Susmita Das is a popular name in India, particularly in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Dehradun, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Jharkahnd. She has more than a 300 live performances, which includes several performances abroad. Her mission has been to attract young and serious listeners to meaningful music based on high quality lyrics. Her forte has been soulful music with meaningful lyrics, which seeks to revive interest of listeners and audiences to quality based writings in musical compositions. With Maya Darpan she pioneered presenting classic literary creations as songs. So far, she has cut 14 original music albums in Odia and Hindi. As a mark of recognition of her creativity in promoting classic literary creations in musical format she has been appointed as a member of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). She has also been empanelled in the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in Sugam Sangeet category. She was a member of the Jury for National Film Awards-2015.
